Politician: Barack Obama
Barack Hussein Obama was born on August 4, 1961 and is the 44th President of the United States. He is the first African American to hold the office of the President of the country. He served as a senator from the 13th District in the Illinois state from 2005 till the time he was elected as president in 2008.
Born in Hawaii, Obama is a graduate from the Columbia University and the Harvard Law School. He is also known to be a community organizer before he earned his law degree. Obama has worked as a civil rights attorney and has also taught constitutional law at the University of Chicago Law School.
Obama came in the limelight when he won the Democratic Primary in March 2004. This was the time when his keynote address at the Democratic National Convention made people sit up and take notice. In 2004, he won the elections to the US Senate in Illinois.
Obama started his presidential campaign in February 2007 and he won his party’s nomination after a close struggle with Hillary Rodham Clinton. The 2008 presidential elections had him beat John McCain as he became the first African American President of the United States. He has also won the Nobel Peace Prize in 2009.
